Florida Hometown Heroes Housing Program – There has never before been a first time home buyer down payment assistance program as generous as this! It provides up to $35,000 in down payment and closing cost assistance among other benefits. The Hometown Heroes first time home buyers program is available to eligible full-time Florida employees with minimal restrictions to qualify, making homeownership more affordable.
The Florida Hometown Heroes Program is easy to qualify for and will not last very long. Florida Housing anticipates that Hometown Heroes Funds will only last 3-4 months after its upcoming August 18, 2025 release due to high demand and we can help you reserve your funds before the program ends! New guidelines allow up to $35,000 for down payment and closing cost assistance at 0% interest! Home buyers can now purchase up to $731,000 with minimal to zero funds of their own. A good rule of thumb is to estimate 5% of the purchase price (see examples below).
Eligible home buyers will receive the funds at closing in the form of a second mortgage that has no interest or monthly payments for the entire duration of the loan. The loan is paid back only upon sale, refinance, total loan payoff, or if they vacate the property.
